Before Blue Lock, Kira was the golden boy of the Japanese media. He defeated Isagi's high school team in the nationals qualifiers. When both were invited to Blue Lock, Kira loudly opposed Jinpachi Ego's philosophy, believing that friendship and teamwork were the true keys to victory. However, during the very first trial (a game of tag), Isagi actively chose to target Kira instead of a weaker player. Kira was struck by the ball in the final second and eliminated.
