Background and Story of Wataru Kuon

Kuon started out as the friendly, dependable 'older brother' of Team Z, organizing their tactics and acting as a peacemaker. However, convinced that Team Z was too weak to survive, he secretly conspired with Team W (the Wanima twins). He intentionally threw the match, telling Team W all of Team Z's secrets in exchange for being allowed to score a hat-trick, thus guaranteeing he would advance even if Team Z was eliminated. However, when Team Z miraculously tied the game, Kuon became a social pariah. In a final act of redemption during the match against Team V, he intentionally tackled Nagi to prevent a goal, accepting a red card to save Team Z. He was later eliminated in the Second Selection.

Personality of Wataru Kuon in Blue Lock

Initially presented as kind and responsible, Kuon was revealed to be a desperate, highly cynical manipulator. His betrayal stemmed from deep-seated trauma regarding his high school teammates, who lacked the drive to win. He believed he had to abandon his 'weak' friends to survive.

Appearance of Wataru Kuon

He has a gentle face, short brown hair, and often keeps his eyes closed in a friendly smile (which later becomes a sinister trademark of his betrayal).
